Life is Back to Normal in New Zealand

Unlike other countries such as the US and Australia, our shoots in New Zealand are not delayed by COVID-19 restrictions.

There continues to be no community transmission of COVID within NZ borders. The only active cases existing in New Zealand are in government managed isolation (from returning citizens who acquired COVID offshore. The cases were caught before they entered the NZ community). As a result, life is back to normal within New Zealand and everyone has returned to work, school, sports, and domestic travel.

Wondering what this looks like for filming in New Zealand?

  • There are no restrictions on the number of people who can gather together, for any reason.

  • No physical distancing or social bubbles are required.  People can engage in close proximity with others.

  • No masks are required.

  • There are strict border controls in place and only NZ citizens/residents are allowed in. All Kiwis entering the country are required to enter government isolation facilities for 14 days and are unable to leave without testing negative for COVID-19.

The government advises the following precautions:

  • Stay home if you’re sick.

  • Practice good hygiene/hand washing.

  • Keep track of where you’ve been.

Chirp Films keeps the following protocols in place:

  • All shoots registered through the Screen Safe registration portal (government required for contact tracing and auditing purposes)

  • Independent Health & Safety Officer

  • Hand-washing stations

  • Cleaning of Locations

  • COVID Health declarations are signed by all crew/talent. QR code check-ins and an app are used to log contact tracing.
